The new phase of privatisation transforming the Odisha Discoms is described in the attached slide
In a transformative phase, Odisha’s 4 Discoms were handed to Tata Power in 2020 and 2021, following the 51:49 Delhi ownership model. This change resulted in a 5% AT&C loss reduction, with all Discoms profitable from the first year, covering previous losses of around 1000 crores. With monthly payments to GRIDCO in advance, and 500 old dues collected, employment remained stable; 4000 direct and 30,000 contract employees were engaged, even with promotions and increments. This success occurred despite challenges posed by two COVID waves and the Yaas cyclone.
